Sis, do you find yourself doing the same thing over & OVER, even though you promised yourself you wouldn’t?
I can relate.Sometimes it is negative thought patterns and sometimes it is an actual behavior. I have spoken to so many women who have admitted weaknesses such as words against themselves like “I’m so dumb, I’m so irresponsible, or I’m horrible at this or that".
How about swiping the credit card over and over again even though you are desperately trying to overcome debt?
Last but not least… I ate the whole plate and got seconds! Ouch. We try so hard to watch our weight but for some reason our eyes are just so much larger than our stomach and we sit back, tummy full, feeling miserable and say “ I did it again!”.
Sis, sip on this…
in addition to a lack of self control, could we be trying to defy our sinful nature? What advice would you give to your little sis?You are dumb, swipe the card (even if you are way over your head in debt), keep eating you will feel horrible after but do it anyway? Of course not.
So why do we do this to ourselves? Can I share what has worked for me?PAUSING. Visualize your little sister and remember the significant words of truth from those who have gone before us: Take a listen to our brother Apostle Paul:
"I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate." Romans 7:15 NLT
What to do?
Pause. Control your mind. Walk away. Have that conversation before you act.
"So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace."
Sis, you are not alone. Choose that your mind be spirit led. Just know we are all right there with you but it starts today. Spirit, have your way.
