So Much To Do- So How Can You REST in 2022!?

So Much To Do- So How Can You REST in 2022!?
It is so sad that after all these years, I am finally able to see the value of rest. I literally believed that resting was a form of laziness. Please do not judge me, but it was true.
My days were packed with schedules, to-do’s and tight deadlines. I believed this was a recipe to succeed. It was a mind set I developed over the years.
Deep down, I knew something had to change in my life, but with my hands in so many projects it was impossible. However, I distinctly remember several times an inner voice saying “go home, lay down”. This voice got louder and harder to ignore. I had mentors, friends and co-workers say to me “ you need to rest”, but I dismissed it, over and over again.
Until one day- I was spiritually thrown in a “closed for repair’ “closed for maintenance”, it was a God induced “shut-down”.
During this time nothing else mattered but hearing God and being close to Him. I felt like a little girl clinging to the jeans of her daddy. In what felt like one moment, I was no longer able to handle even the smallest set-backs. These were the warning signs going off in my life. Even in ministry, you can venture off in good-intentions, never fully realizing you wandered off so far, that you were actually functioning independently.
Sis, sip on this…
Days packed with schedules, to-do’s and tight deadlines…And do you resonate with words such as hustle, grit and grind” ? If so, you just might need God’s rest.
Time with God does not equal a nap. It’s intentional time to connect with God, detach from life’s demands, to-do’s and schedules and embrace His essence and His gifts. Why, because He knows what’s best for you and me. He leads by example.
“On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.” Genesis‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Sis, if you do not respond by following God’s example, how about a commandment given by Moses who too has “ been there and succeeded, daunting task and parting the red-sea?”
You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord. Anyone who works on that day must be put to death.” Exodus‬ ‭35:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Sis, I love you. I thank all the beautiful women in my life who loved me so much and saw how desperately I needed the REST of God. So, I pass this value unto you today. REST, can now be in any moment, anytime, and anywhere with the power of the Holy Spirit, who is always accessible to enter into its rest!
Will you value rest in 2022? When I chose to rest I heard my daughter laugh, I heard her giggle, I felt my furry babies love, I heard God’s heart beating for me, I felt His warm embrace and most of all I valued me- who God created me to be, I dusted her off, gave her some TLC and began to love her again.
